The Bitcoin blockchain size is 253GB now, what does this mean when cryptocurrency in general become mainstream, replacing traditional currency?

I unknowingly kept the blockchain on my computer the whole time, until realizing it today and deleted it, freeing half the size of one of my hard drives.
This makes me think of what it means for the future. Crypto is not mainstream at all, but suppose that in 5 years it replaces traditional currency in some countries, the amount of transactions will skyrocket. An average person will not longer have the resources to either check the blockchain, or store it locally.
Would it defeat the purpose that people will have to trust a few "centralized" 3rd parties to store and validate the blockchain? I think those parties are highly likely to be owned or controlled by governments. Would they just become "banks" like today?

Bitcoin Market Share (BCH) Only 5.7% - Does this mean BCore and rest of 1600 alts do not understand what peer to peer cash and what crypto-currency and what blockchain is ?

Have you seen the BCore trolls voting down the score and hurting the karma ratings ? If you have seen this and agree with this, please +1 +2 appropriately. Thanks.

"The way to stop crypto currency. Stop it developing as a cash system. Government can force the use of Fiat, this is what legal tender means. In time, value reaches a financial carry capacity. If Bitcoin is not used as a payment system, it is simple for government to control."

I understand the currency side of digital currency. What does it mean when I read about applications running on the blockchain? Is it literally an app with its source code running on the nodes of a digital currency? Forgive my crypto ignorance. /r/Bitcoin

New Australian Laws Confirm: Bitcoin Not A Currency What does that mean? “Goods and Services Tax” (GST) applies to any transaction of Bitcoin. That means any Bitcoin-for-goods transaction within Australia will be taxed twice, on both the Bitcoin and the goods. This is catastrophic to Bitcoin growth!

Bitcoin doesn't "fluctuate", 1BTC is always 1BTC. What is really happening is that fiat currencies are devaluating more and more. That means every day you will have to pay more and more worthless goat shit fiat to buy 1BTC. [Maybe this image will help you understand better]1 Many people get it totally wrong, Bitcoin IS NOT stocks, bonds etc. Bitcoin is money. The price that you pay today to get some BTC is the price that you are willing to pay for securing your future.

I hear people talk about bitcoin being the first global currency (I have very limited knowledge on economics), but what does that mean for bitcoin since there is a limited number of bitcoins that can be mined?

Hypothetically if bitcoin were to become the worldwide currency (in 5 years or 20 years whatever), do individual bitcoins just level out at some ridiculous price (if imagine hundreds of thousands of dollars)?
